The Zachariah Scholarship Fund

The purpose of this fund is to support the secondary and college education of Sudanese youth with proven leadership skills and academic ability. They must be in their 20s and 30s who have grown up during the civil war.

The scholarships are to prepare the recipients for theological training or for programs that will contribute toward the development of Sudan.

The fund has been established in memory of Zachariah Biar Atem, who was killed the week of October 8, 2006, with forty others while thye traveled in a convoy from Juba (the capital of Southern Sudan) to Kenya. Zachariah was a priest of the Diocese of Bor. He was a man of profound faith who delivered the Word of God with an intense passion.
