Relief and Outreach Efforts in Sudan
- Project Education Sudan has as its objective building schools in the war-torn region of Southern Sudan. Project Education Sudan provided the technical expertise for the installation of the electrification project at the Marc Nikkel School funded by our 2005 St. Nicholas Appeal offering.
- American Friends of the Episcopal Church of Sudan (AFRECS)--an organization of churches, non-governmental organizations, and individuals who care deeply about the struggles of the Sudanese people. AFRECS's purpose is to hear and respond to the voices of our brothers and sisters in the Province of the Episcopal Church of Sudan. Of particular interest are the Missions and Projects sections of their website.
- Nuba Christian Family Mission, Inc.--a nonprofit, faith- and community-based organization dedicated to lending assistance to the persecuted Church in Sudan and to the Nuba Mountain refugees seeking resettlement in the United States
- Water for Sudan--an organization working to ensure safe and adequate water for villages in Sudan
- Darfur Violence Through the Eyes of Children--National Public Radio's August 1, 2005, "Morning Edition" story about impromptu drawings collected by Human Rights Watch officials. Lots of more information about Human Rights Watch's activities in Sudan and more of the children's drawings are available at HRW's website .
- Episcopal News Service Daybook, July 18, 2005--what the speakers at the Episcopal Migration Ministries (EMM) World Refugee Day commemoration held June 27, 2005, at the Episcopal Church Center in New York City had to say. The theme of the event was "Portraits of Suffering and Courage: Lifting Up Sudan."
