2008 Convocation Meetings - Spring and Fall

Clergy, delegates, alternates, and all interested parishioners are asked to attend the 2008 Convocation meetings.

Publications will be sent to clergy, delegates, and alternates via email in advance of the meeting, and printed copies will be available at the meeting.

Council business sessions are run in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order. These can be

According to Canon 24,

  • Clergy working or living in a convocation and canonically connected with the diocese are entitled to a vote at convocation meetings.
  • Elected lay delegates, are entitled to a vote at convocation meetings. Alternates serving in the place of a delegate are also entitled to a vote.
  • All members of congregations are invited and encouraged to attend.

 

Spring

According to Canon 24, the purpose of spring convocation meetings is to:

  • Receive reports
  • Evaluate programs
  • Review 3 year projected budget information
  • Receive orientation to Council process

Fall

  • Oct 12-Roanoke-Trinity, Moneta, 2:30 pm
  • Oct 19-Abingdon-St. Thomas, Abingdon, 2:30
  • Oct 26-New River-Christ, Blacksburg, 3:00 pm
  • Nov 2-Augusta-Emmanuel, Covington, 3:00 pm

According to Canon 24, the purpose of fall convocation meets is:

  • Discuss upcoming year in the diocese
  • Nominations and elections
