The Power of Forgiveness

As part of the effort to promote community healing after the tragedy at Virginia Tech, members of Christ Church, Blacksburg attended a documentary at the Lyric Theatre on September 16.
The event was partially underwritten by a grant from Episcopal Relief and Development. The film, “The Power of Forgiveness,” was shown to a nearly sold-out crowd who also met with the film’s producer, Martin Doublmeier, as well as the Rev. Lyndon Harris, an Episcopal priest involved with forgiveness projects in the wake of September 11. The film is expected to premiere on PBS in December.
While in Blacksburg, Harris preached and led an additional discussion at Christ Church about his current work with Gardens of Forgiveness, a group that encourages traumatized communities to create gardens as a therapeutic response. Visit their website at gofnyc.org
