Commission on Ministry (CoM)

According to Canon 9 of our diocese, the Commission on Ministry assists the Bishop in:

  • matters pertaining to the enlistment and selection of persons for the ministry and in the guidance and pastoral care of all postulants and candidates for holy orders and deacons or deaconesses, if there be such, and professional church workers
  • matters pertaining to the continuing education and career development of the clergy
  • the deployment of clergy for the fullest development of the church's human resources
  • the establishment of standards and the provision of training for lay readers in the diocese
  • other duties pertaining to the ministry of the diocese as may be assigned to it by the Bishop. Canon 9 further authorizes the commission on ministry, subject to the approval of the Bishop, to cooperate and coordinate with commissions on ministry of other dioceses in performing its duties.
