Kate coordinates the volunteers for Evans House, particularly the front desk ministry. Additionally, she edits Connections, a monthly publication for the clergy and lay leaders of the diocese. She also publishes many of the diocesan mailings, including the Convocation and Council materials, and she deals with active clergy and staff insurance questions. Dorothy oversees the BMRC's collection of materials, including books, videos, cassettes, CD's, periodicals, kits, and curricula, from the purchasing of new materials to the consultation about and loan of resources to churches and individuals. She is the staff liaison to the Education Consortium, the group which plans educational offerings in the diocese. Consecrated the 5th Bishop of the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia on October 26th, 1996, Bishop Powell is a native of Oregon. Prior to his election he served on diocesan staffs of the Dioceses of Oregon and North Carolina. In addition, he had previously served in parish ministry at two churches in Oregon. He currently serves on the national Church Deployment Board, the Standing Commission for Small Congregations, the Board of Trustees of Virginia Theological Seminary and the Governing Board for the College of Preachers. Lynn is the Bishop's secretary.
